Clownfest 2013

For the last several years (or more) Clownfest has been in Seaside Heights, NJ, in September after Labor Day Weekend. Well, last year, Sandy struck Seaside Heights pretty hard and Clownfest was forced to find a new location (at least for this year’s convention).

I am shocked that Clownfest does not go to another shore town in New Jersey for this year. It has not been since 2003 (I think) when Clownfest was in Cherry Hill because of Seaside politics. Seaside realized that Clownfest DID help extend the summertime fun successfully.

At one time, Seaside also hosted a Grandmother Beauty Contest in order to extend the summertime fun. But That was a long time ago.

They are working on the damages from Seaside as we speak. Please do not give up on Seaside. September is 6 months away.

Thank you for reading my comment

After reading some of the articles about Clownfest moving away from Seaside Heights, NJ, I discovered that the move was NOT caused by Huricane Sandy. The decision to leave Seaside Heights came before the superstorm hammered the resort town. That seems to make it less likely to return to Seaside Heights or the New Jersey Shore anytime soon.

The boardwalk is walkable. I am VERY upset about this. I just googled today. I thought I read somewhere it still was happening? Ugh… we go every year. 🙁

I don’t know if Seaside Heights has other plans for this year to make up for Clownfest moving away. It is my understanding that the decision to move had nothing to do with the state of the boardwalk, it was the amount of financial support the town was willing to provide the organizers of Clownfest. I am sure that they were glad to have another location available after seeing the damage caused by Sandy. Rumors said they will be back in Seaside Heights next year.
